Description
Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is a stiff, thermoplastic foam material with closed cells, created from solid polystyrene beads polymerized from styrene monomer. These beads also contain pentane, an expansion gas, dissolved within them.
Properties and features
EPS is easy to handle, transport and install.
This material does not retain water, which prevents damage caused by mildew or water infiltration.
Thanks to its closed-cell structure, EPS offers excellent thermal insulation, keeping buildings warm in winter and cool in summer, making it a popular material for insulation.
EPS is easy to cut, shape and install, with fast and flexible implementation in a variety of construction or packaging projects.
EPS is recyclable and can be reused in a variety of products, reducing its environmental impact. It is long-lasting and retains its properties over time.
Applications
Packaging
Food packaging, isothermal crates, protection of electronic equipment.
Construction
Building blocks for load-bearing walls, lost formwork, exterior thermal insulation (ETI) systems for building facades.
Insulation
Wall, floor and roof insulation.
