LDPE

Description

Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is a flexible, odourless, transparent and 100% recyclable thermoplastic polymer used in products such as grocery/garbage bags, fruit juice containers and stretch film. Its flexibility, toughness and corrosion resistance, combined with a low-cost and highly efficient production process, make it an attractive choice for technical applications, fuelling demand for the production of millions of tonnes of LDPE every year.

Properties and features

Less rigid than HDPE, LDPE is easy to deform and therefore mainly suited to applications requiring a certain degree of malleability.

Naturally translucent, it can be used in applications requiring a certain amount of light transmission.

LDPE has good impact resistance and good mechanical strength, making it robust enough for many applications such as coatings and flexible packaging.

LDPE is an ideal material for applications exposed to humidity down to -75°F.

Its low production cost and recyclability make it a popular choice for many applications.

Applications

Geomembranes

Agricultural applications (irrigation tanks, storage basins) and landfill liners to prevent soil and groundwater contamination.
